Yes, that what you should expect. What wheels lock up first? It sounds like your front to back brake bias is off.
You need to be careful to not obstruct too much airflow through the engine compartment and around the transmission, otherwise you will get overheating problems.
Sitting in my garage now, sorry! Waiting to be installed on my Caterham.

That is for a set of four, with springs. Give them a call and ask what a front set will cost. Personally I would not replace a subset of shocks with a different brands. Changing brand is best done...
I am looking at these: https://www.nitronusa.com/buy-online/automotive/caterham/narrow-track-de-dion/narrow-track-de-dion-pre-1996---96-/caterham-narrow-track-de-dion--pre-96--ntr-r1-suspension-kit

I firmly believe that you need some anti-submarining protection in a Caterham. A standard 3 point seat belt has no such protection, nor does a 4 point harness. A 5 point harness can seriously hurt...
I maintain a Google Maps map for the FB group Caterham and 7 Owners in the USA and Canada. I suggest adding the membership here to that map, which will make it more complete.
Replacement masters are very inexpensive. Apparently they are used a lot on race cars and get replaced annually.
Make sure you test the play in the slave correctly. Have someone step on the pedal...
If you can't beat the Corvettes with that beast you need to look in the mirror for the cause! :-)
I am going to build one, but use PVC pipe instead of metal for the initial implementation. My version will eliminate the spare wheen and use the space for storage instead.
Sometimes the push rod cannot be adjusted enough. That was the case with my 7 that has a hydraulic clutch. Instead of a proper lock nut it had a regular, thicker nut. The 1-2 mm extra that I got when...
It's a common tale with software platforms that support plugins. Nobody is responsible for maintaining the whole and rarely does the platform owner test the plugins against new version, or vice...
Great. I am also seeing a lot of interest on other sites I have posted the plan on.
Often the problem isn't the gear box, but the clutch dragging. Try pumping the clutch pedal and see if it makes a difference.
I plan to arrange two Sevens Cars and Coffees this year at Minuteman Airfield in Stow. Other Lotus cars are welcome to join the lineup. Minuteman Airfield is a really friendly place. Planes to watch,...
I just traded the best car I have ever owned, a 2009 Mercedes CLK 350 convertible. Loved the car, but with four open top/convertible cars and just a Chevvy Volt as the "roomy" car, I needed something...
Great! I was looking for a head gasket for my 1700! Thanks for the info!
My wife has had one ride in my 1987 S3. The seller and I each had to grab an arm to help her out, so that was her first and only ride in it. She did enjoy it and approved of the purchase!
PM sent for Brookland screens.
If you take the cover off, which I have also considered, can you see the fill hole inside from the opening?
I like the idea of a bung and a home made dip stick.
The trouble is that the plug is almost impossible to get to. It is up against the driver's footwell. I plan to drill a hole in the footwell side so I can get at the plug from there.
I have decided to try to assemble a registry of New England owners of Sevens.
To be added, send me a PM here, an email to anker at ankersoft dot com, or Anker Berg-Sonne on Facebook Messenger. I...
I am going to try to assemble a contact list for New England. If you care to send me your name, a few words about your car and contact information I will add you to the list. Send an email to anker...
I am in Stow, very close to Marlborough and have been mulling a meet once the COVID restrictions are lifted. The biggest challenge is going to be reaching all the 7 owners in the area. This is one...
