    Default Registration Issue

Has anyone noticed that is pretty much impossible to register to this site?

Your required to enter a secret answer that you have to contact the admin for. Yet when you click the contact link on the bottom of the page you are asked for the same secret answer. Thus creating a un-joinable site. I lucked out and guessed what it was to register.

When I joined less than a year ago, the 'secret' answer was something any 7-type enthusiast would know. Don't remember what it was tho.....

This is what you get now.

"Please contact the site administrator for the secret answer to get past this point"

Nothing seems to be stopping the commies from creating accounts.

We're an exclusive forum, Dave. Congratulations on proving you're worthy to post

Seriously though, apologies for the virtual lock-out on registration, but we have serious spammer issues at the moment. Mazda lowered the bar the other day and they nailed us, so he quickly raised the barrier again. There have been a few anti-spam options suggested by other members, but it may take a while to assess and implement. It's a matter of balancing fulltime jobs and family with managing a free forum.

It is now; previously it was just a hobby. I was actually referring to Mazda with those comments though. If I go into the admin interface and do anything other than ban a spammer, I'm likely to bring the whole site down
