    Default Clutch Master Cylinder

2002 S3 Arch chassis. This is my first LHD and hydraulic clutch 7. I thought it was odd that the holes to mount the master cylinder to the pedal box are offset, so that the cylinder is not vertical. This is apparently to prevent the clutch and brake cylinders interfering. Is this common to all LHD S3s? And is it just a result of the pedal-spacing in a LHD chassis (since RHD chassis don't have the slanted clutch MC)? Thank you.

I have a 1987 LHD S3 with a hydraulic clutch. I just dealt with the fact that there was almost no travel from clutch pedal fully depressed to beginning to grab. It turned out that someone had used a standard nut as a lock nut on the slave adjustment where a thin lock nut should have been used. Problem fixed!

Just for reference my 2019 Metric chassis has the clutch M/C vertical and the brake M/C angled. The reservoir (combined for both) is remotely located on the passenger side firewall.

Thank you both for confirming that "crooked is normal"!
