    Default USA Turn signal source?

Does anybody know where did Caterham USA source their amber turn signals from? Smaller ones with the chrome ring around them.

I know the bigger UK ones are from misc British cars like Land Rover Defender if I recall.

Front indicators? For my last 3 Caterhams (including the current) they were the same as Caterham UK parts - not changed over. Were yours changed?

Assuming you have the original then:

    • After mid 90s (or somewhere in the 90s) it was a Land Rover part. I have a note of LDL005 but that returns no results now so they changed part numbers over the years.
    • Prior to that it was a Lucas part L794 as fitted to Rootes products like Hilman Imps plus also fitted to Morgans.

The parts are usually imprinted with the number so you can cross check.

Best places to confirm for correct part numbers:

    Paddock Spares
    https://www.paddockspares.com/catalo...t/?q=indicator
    and
    Car Builder Solutions
    https://www.carbuildersolutions.com/...alse&sid=false

Once you have an accurate current part number you can source here.

Assuming someone has actually replaced yours to be DOT compliant based on the original builder encountering a DMV request on first registering the car then you are on your own. It may be easier just to replace the both indicators to match at that point. Does your DOT indicator have any part number imprinted? Should be there near the DOT stamp.

If you are looking for rear light cluster then they came off a 1950s Sprite Caravan in the UK. They are mounted upside down so fill with water when wet - drill a hole to allow drainage otherwise they short out over time. I love the ramshackle nature of kit cars some times!

Croc, I already have 3x sets of UK replacements, Amber, Clear, and LED clear, which is partially why I ask. I'm familiar with UK ones and where they come from but there isn't a whole lot of info on US.

USA ones are smaller than UK with a chrome ring on the outside.

Sourcing pictures from BAT for ease of finding good USA pics

    Regular Caterham

Car isn't local to me right now so can't check with ease maybe when I get to it next time.

Edit: Mine weren't replaced by the builder, they match every other US spec of 2000+ (there might have been a cutoff year around 2010+ when they started using uk ones?). I've seen many other ones with the same ones as me. As a matter a fact almost every 7 on BAT has the chrome ring smaller indicators. One yellow one is exception because they painted the ring black like I did, but it's still the smaller amber assembly.

The ones in the first two photos look like Lucas L594 (beehive) lights that were used on Bugeye Sprites, MGA's, TR3's and some other LBC's. The chrome ring captures the glass lens into the rubber base. Should be available from Moss and others in the US, or various suppliers in the UK. The second two photos look like the present day Caterham ones that are held in with screws.

I believe you are correct! Perfect. Thanks.

I see they are available in clear as well, gives some options. The two screw modern/UK style bigger lights haven't grown on me yet, so I'm considering all options.

To tell the truth, I didn't realize that UK/Modern were different than early 2000's US until I got mine in the mail. Small difference that easily gets overlooked but will bother you once you know. Just like roll bar supports being straight vertically on the sides vs angled towards the middle of the car. Also changed sometime in the later 2000's.
