Congrats! Great timing as the weather is about to warm up. Up for a road trip to NJMP to meet up with a whole bunch of 7s? Tom

I'd love to try that sometimes Tom. Unfortunately, I'm going on vacation that week. I know, poor planning on my part...

What is the requirement for roll cages? My 7 only has the standard cage on it. I never really intended on taking the car.

Roll bar has to clear your helmet, The broomstick test is to sit in the car with helmet on and take a broomstick or other straight edge and lay it on the roll bar at one end and the bonnet at the other, as long as it doesn't hit your helmet you are good. Windscreen would fold in a rollover obviously so that's why you don't measure to that.

Croc or someone will confirm or correct as appropriate.

Tom's right - roll bar with a straight line to the front nose chassis member as that is the first structural piece of the chassis that would be on the ground if you rolled it. Its about two thirds of the way down a Caterham nose cone as you progress from front to back.

Well... Time for an update. After a very frustrating month and a half, I finally got my plate, title and registration. I was denied the first time around because of "no license plate frame" Really? Perhaps if I had a plate I would put it in a frame! Also they circled the exhaust pipe in between the muffler and the cat, along with our super cool exhaust headers that feed into the collector on the cat. They said that they need to be "shielded" WTF.

Soooo of to Lowes to get some 6" aluminum corrugated ducting and this is what I came up with.

As for the license plate frame, I borrowed the one off my wife's MINI Cooper.

I had my local State Representative involved at this point and he sent it in. This past Friday, 10 days later, I got all my gear!

Come Saturday morning, with much joy I ripped all that crap off the exhaust, mounted my plate and went to get the car inspected again...

No problem this time around and I'm off for a Blat! I put around 50 miles on it Saturday and Sunday.

I'm headed over to one of my customers to get the front end alignment checked per spec. There isn't any issue with the handling at all but I want to be sure so I don't wind up scrubbing the tires off in case I screwed something up! LOL

    Happy Motoring!

Good think you removed the "shield". Makes your car look like one of Jay Leno's Aero or Tank powered monsters. You would be a hit with the kids that put a 5 inch chrome tip on their Hondas.

Congratulations! Well done! Patience well kept in the face of bureaucrats with the intellectual capacity of amoebic dysentery.

ironically the license plate frame would earn you a fine in NJ as the Welsh flag would obscure the “NEW JERSEY” on the base of the state license plate here.

ugh. Makes me glad to live in TN.

When I went to the DMV with my title, they ASKED ME if the title matched the VIN plate, and then I paid the $32 registration fee for a classic car, which is good in perpetuity.

Technically not supposed to drive except weekends, club events, and maintenance, but I had a cop drive up to me from behind and give me the thumbs up as he went by.
