<P>I am interested in doing some trackdays at my local track, Mid-Ohio.&nbsp; Does anyone know the easiest way of doing this, for example joining a club for test days, or is there an organization that specializes in track days for enthusiastic drivers?</P>
<P>Thanks</P>

Can't help you with Mid-Ohio track days, but dropping in to say welcome aboard :).

Our local track has Fridays at the Track >http://www.bsr-inc.com/FATT.HTM (http://www.bsr-inc.com/FATT.HTM).

I guess one thing to look into if it's not a SCCA event or something similar is insurance - if you're worried about that.

Mid Ohio is also my local track(90 miles away). Just did last weekend
there with NASA OH/IN. They have racing but also HPDE (high performance
driver ed) separated into 4 different classes for novice through
advanced drivers. There are 2 more NASA events at Mid Ohio in July and
August plus the Nationals in September.

<P>Thanks Brian,&nbsp; Could you please point me in the right direction for the requirements for the NASA events?&nbsp; I would love to take part, but am new to the procedures in the US having only been here for a few years from the UK?</P>
<P>Many thanks,James</P>

There is a lot of info at www.nasaproracing.com and you should check it
out. The short version is that once you get a membership($40) all you
need is a mechanically sound car and sa2000 or better rated helmet(no
motorcycle helmets). The pre-tech is something you do yourself using a
form from nasa, nothing too technical just belts, hoses, lug nuts etc.
followed by a quick once over by the tech guys at the track. The cost
for an event seems to run about $150 a day, this gets you 4 20 minute
track sessions. If you've never run with NASA before they start you in
HPDE1(novice) where you are assigned an instructor to ride with you. I
don't know your experince level but if you are just getting started
this is a great place to learn and if you are more experienced your
instructor will confirm this and sign you off for a more advanced run
group.

I hope you come out, it's always great to see another se7en at the track.&nbsp; &nbsp;

<P>Brian,</P>
<P>That's great info - thanks very much. I certainly intend to get to Mid-Ohio for the August event.&nbsp; The delay in replying was while I actually completed the purchase of the se7en.&nbsp; I now have it, have successfully negotiated the hoop-jumping of registration in Ohio and the car is on the road.&nbsp; This is a Chris (from sevens and elans) built car running a QED Vauxhall lump with various nice bits on it, including his Spa mirror set-up. I can certainly recommend his workmanship.</P>
<P>I look forward to seeing you at the track, and if you ever fancy a 'blat' locally, I am based in Powell, Ohio and would enjoy an early morning run to Hocking Hills one weekend.</P>
