Vauxhall Engine Problem Ohio

Hi Guys,

It's been a while since I posted - I have been too busy enjoying the car :)

However, I recently discovered a chocolate mikshape type fluid/gunge in the radiator expansion tank and thought 'head-gasket'. The car has a QED built 2.0 16v Vauxhall engine from the UK, and having spoken to them, they told me that this is 99.9% likely a porous cylinder head, with the failure being in the central oil gallery. The remedy if in the UK would be to send it to them and they would fix and return for approx 170 GBP.

I live in Ohio though so am trying to find any recommendations for a company/individual who would be willing and able to do the whole job - engine strip, removal of cylinder head, fix and rebuild.

Any suggestions for people to contact? I am going out of my mind not being able to drive it, and also consequently missing the 7/7/07 event :banghead: :banghead:

If you send me you e-mail addy via private mail, I can send you Word.doc instructions on fixing the porous XE head.

At least you could show it to some local shops and see if they want to tackle the job.

Hi I also have a problem with c20xe porous head. I drive vauxhall calibra 94, in South Korea. Will you be able to send me a document explaining how to fix ?

I hope those instructions can help you sort your porous head problem. I understand this is the technique that Swindon used on the General Motors heads they sourced to Caterham for the Evolution series upgraded HPC engines. Most of the Swindon Evo engines used Cosworth heads, but later ones used GM heads once the supply of Coscast heads dried up.

Just saw your thread, as another Vauxhall owner, yes it is porosity. I had the same problem and sent my head back to QED and shipping cost more than the shop work.

Scott Ranney of http://www.progressiveaudio.com/ in Columbus had(has?) a Vauxhall Seven and he might be a source for information on a local shop. He for sure would be a source for all the audio/video equipment you could ever want. :)
