I am starting to get a little nervous driving without a center high mounted stop light. A truck got very close in traffic the other day...not sure if he ever saw me. Looking on line the ones I find appear to be too bulky. I would rather have a slim LED light that mounts to the back of the rollbar. Does anyone have a suggestion. I also want to add one of the modules to flash the lights..."BACKOFF". Do you wire the module to just work on the CHMSL or on the tail lights also.

I attached a set of Custom Dynamics miro-lights to the roll bar and drilled an 1/8" hole to run the wires through the passenger side of the roll bar. I was then able to tie it into the brake light positive.

I'm building my 7 with a loud horn and an overused rectangular pedal 1.125" to the right of the brake pedal. :)

Do a search for chmsl, among other things. There have been some helpful discussions on this. Both of my se7ens have this light. Nothing will stop the distracted driver tho. I had a close encounter of the rear end type today in my SUV, wh/is festooned with lights.

I used the same lights on my vertically enhanced roll bar, they work great. It's a pain to fish the wire through the exit hole though.

Get one of those flashing led lights that are on the back of Highway Patrol motorcycles. I believe that flashing red or solid red is allowed and the flashing red draws so much more attention. You cannot look directly into them from close distance they are so bright.

As an alternative, a flashing led bicycle light wired into your stop lights might work.

The Customdynamics light strip is exactly what I was looking for...the model with the amber end LEDs working on the turn signal circuit would add a little extra turn signal.

for easy wiring on caterham , you can buy caterham p/n 76149 - sub loom. plugs directly into factory harness . gives you a 2-wire pigtail , then you can plug in any chmsl .

I ordered the 16.25 inch version and the Street Magic flasher/strobe. Several of the flasher patterns will fire LEDs and regular bulbs. When I searched this topic I could not tell if anyone was flashing the fender mounted turn indicators and brake lights along with the CHSL...or if that even works.

The next trick is wiring it up...the car is an 2003 Birkin.

There may be a loose blue wire with an insulated female spade lug that has power via the brake light switch.
Location is in the vicinity of the right hand rear light cluster on my 2001.

Here is another approach for CHMSL. I got two red rectangular LED light units, and two amber ones. Together, they just fit the space between the roll bar back braces. The lights are mounted to a piece of aluminum angle, powder-coated black. The angle bracket attaches to the roll bar with black nylon cable ties through slots in the bracket.

The amber lights are wired to the turn signals. The wires run through a small hole drilled in the right back brace, and down to access the signal wiring at the rear of the car.

The bracket sits low enough on the roll bar that the SoftBits bikini top does conflict with the lights, and this top has a clear plastic center panel that lets the lights shine through.

i see that I need to renew the black electrical tape that seals the top edge of the lights against the roll bar.

This project took longer than I thought it would...work has gotten in the way. It works great...I really like the amber turn indicators. The 16.5 inch unit was just a little too long to fit between the roll bar braces..it tilts up about 20 degrees but does not hit the top. I have not had a chance to troubleshoot the strobe unit...when I hit the brakes the brake light dims but still strobes ..so I took it off for now. If I can figure out how to post a photo I will. I also cut off the clunky chrome license plate light and used a black pair of the Custom Dynamics LED license plate bolts... looks much cleaner
