I dont know if this topic has been posted before, but what other love is in your life second to the 7.

Hers mine. Its an 06 Mustang GT Saleen S/C with a Cervinis Eleanor bodykit. Running 9.5lbs of boost, I just made 430rwhp last week.

I only have time/money (and even that is questionable!) for one automotive project in my life at this time.



However, in the past, I did have a pretty trick Audi A4. It was all hopped up with MTM parts (the expensive German stuff) - Stage 2, cat back exhaust, GIAC Tip Chip. Neuspeed rear bar (the BIG one...I had personal correspondence with Aaron Woo about its effects on my rear subframe), etc. Debadged and painted in Hibiscus Red Mica (a maroon), it was a great Q-ship. Only the massive exhaust tips and rumble gave away any clue. I sold it to a college student who appreciated the work I had put into it...he recently wrote to me to let me know that his mom got into an accident driving it...totalled. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/cryin.gif



My other hobby (which is now very dormant) is hi-fi. I currently have 2 semi-hi-fi systems, neither of which is actually set up at my house. The first is a "flea watt" system based around a 47 Lab "Shigaraki" integrated amp driving some custom made single driver Omega speakers — it's at my parents' house now (my dad is a a music buff). Sources include an Arcam CD23 (the last of the Ring DACs) and a Rega Planar 3 turntable. The other system is a vintage Aragon rig with a 24k preamp driving a 8008ST amp. I don't have any sources for this one at the moment.



When the picture feature is back, I'll post pix of this stuff.

That's funny. The amp in my main system is an Aragon 2004 Mk II. I never really thought of it as vintage piece, but given that it is driving Apogee Centaur Minors, I guess most of the system is considered vintage ;)

I convinced my wife to attend a recent Skills Day with our local PCA region and now she is hooked and wants to start doing track events. I think this means that I need to either find a cheap track car we can share (an old Miata would be perfect, except she hates them) or I need to pour some money into my aging 944 turbo. The latter could turn into a money pit, so I need to assess the situation before making a decision. Either way, it looks like I will have another project car soon.

John-It's vintage in that late 80s/early 90s way. And that's a good way, IMHO. I wish I had been able to find an 8008 BB...for the ultimate in mega-watt nerdiness. BTW, my first real encounter with the "high end" was with a set of Apogee Divas and an Aragon amp of some kind (I only remember the little angle cut for the heatsinks). Do you have a Cal Icon II as your CD player? CD playback is a bit more modern. I have a Sony S9000ES CD/SACD/DVD player in the main system, although upstairs I have a Sony CDP 707ESD that was modified by Stan Warren (the “S” in PS Audio). That thing is built like a tank and still sounds pretty good. My vinyl setup is another throwback: AR-ES1/Merril sub chassis/upgraded motor/Rega RB300/Benz Micro Glider.

On another note, my Mom inherited a Nakamichi system from the previous owner of her house, and now that she's moving again, she's letting me have the RX-202 tape deck. Not a Dragon, of course, but it has the autoreverse feature that actually turns the tape over. Classic!
I remember that one! Very cool! I think I still have my old NAD tape deck somewhere that is the opposite of that deck. It featured a manually removable dust shield instead of an opening tape door :)

The old ES stuff was so overbuilt (again, a good thing) for the money. I have an old STR-5ES surround sound receiver I can't rationalize upgrading. And the stereo-only SACD/CD 333 Changer. Love them both.

Last year I found a top of the line Marantz 2275 receiver (1975 era solid state) sitting on a park bench in front of a thrift store! Grabbed it so fast! It still needs some work .. if I can find the time but cosmetically it looks perfect!

Nothing better than Copeland's Appalachian Spring, etc.

Not a massive passion or time/money sink yet, but I'm planning to build a tube amp and some relatively efficient speakers in the not too distant future. The amp will probably be this:

once I gather some cash together to buy some decent trannies. Not as sure yet about the speakers, but have a few options in mind.

The other (non-auto) thing I'm working on which, again, isn't quite a passion, but just a project to try my hands at is a half-hull model of the Spray (the boat that Joshua Slocum used as the first solo circumnavigator). I haven't worked on it in a while as I'm at a stage where I haven't quite figured out how to proceed with the next steps and I have enough time invested in it that I don't want to screw it up at this stage. :d

Nothing exotic. All basswood with the exception of the bootstripe which is mahogany. I'm undecided on finishing but will probably do contrasting stains for topsides and below the waterline with the bowsprit and bulwark (once its added; that's the part I haven't figured out yet) as accents

Well, since my Ultralite never breaks or needs any maintenance, I have to have other things to work on.
I have a 98 vette, to which I added a Blackwing intake, and did a bypass on a set of B&B Touring mufflers.
I also recently replaced the leather on the seats, as the top is always down and the original leather on the 98's was junk.

I also used to build RC model airplanes , but haven't had the time, since I moved to a new home, and got the Ultralite.
Here is a ducted fan model of an A4 Skyhawk which I did in Blue Angels colors.
Sorry to say it only lasted two flights, but if you fly em, you crash em.

I have recently acquired some woodworking tools and have started to build furniture.
I just completed my first of 6 planned pieces which will fill a 9 X 16 foot wall with an entertainment center.
The first piece is the TV stand. It is all cherry and cherry plywood.
This piece is 68" long, 18"high and deep, with two large drawers.

In my spare time, I am generally reloading ammo.
I shoot weekly with a club at a local police department, an occasional IDPA pistol match,
and I am currently preparing for a prairie dog trip to South Dakota in May.

Speaking of cut outs, here is what i did to my Mustang. I used Electric cutouts so I can run open headers.
