I noticed that Amsoil now makes an oil for our older flat tappet type cars. It's called Classic Car Z-Rod and is a synthetic for older engines. Comes in 20-50 weight among others. Its ZDDP content is unusually high: zinc 1377 ppm, phosphorous 1265 ppm.

I know it's somewhat controversial to run synthetics in X-flows, but mine has successfully done 28K miles, thus far, mostly on synthetics (much of it Mobile 1- which doesnt have that much ZDDP).

Not sure what the cost is tho cant be much worse than the Red Line synthetic I now use. I am going to give it a try.

That is why I use diesel engine oils in all my engines ZDDP levels are around 1500 ppm. Saves wear on all engines. I have about 17 engines on my property all run Dello 400.

About 20 years ago we switched to Delo 400 (Chevron) oil for our diesel engines. We run about 25 pieces of equipment including some gas engines. We have never experienced an engine failure since going to the Chevron oils.

Cen Peco is my favorite, but its not available in my area I have to order on the net. They are expensive but they use quality base products and custom blend their lubricants. I just havent used them much lately because shipping is so much. So switched back to Dello.

Delo 400 is not recommended for use with wet clutches because it contains Moly. Otherwise, sounds great for everybody else! That's why run Mobil 1 4T for my Megabusa.
