This message was just posted on Blatchat by Evotell:
THE GRIZZLY BEAR BLAT
Ourselves and Super 7 Cars Inc. the Canadian Caterham importer are floating the idea of doing a Blat from Calgary – Vancouver. This trip will take in some of the world’s most spectacular scenery, be 800 miles and 10 days long.
At present we are floating the idea to see how much interest there would be for such a trip.
Proposed time scale August 2012.
THE GRIZZLY BEAR BLAT
Fly into Calgary and collect car from container port
Start Calgary (ride the Olympic bobsleigh)
Visit Lake Louise
Columbia Ice field
Jasper (Trip up mountain)
Revelstoke: (White water rafting)
Frazer Valley
Kelowna
Track day at Mission
Vancouver
Trip to Whistler Mountain
Ferry to Vancouver Island
Afternoon at Super 7 Cars Factory
Return to Vancouver, where car will be dropped at container port
Fly back to wherever.
YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE

Lana and I are in. Sounds like a blast. We should have our car finished by then.

I did a 3 week trip from Calgary to Vancouver, down to SanDiego, out to Vegas, and back to Calgary on a sport bike many years ago. This was on top of trucking the bikes from Ontario to Calgary and back. The drive through the Rocky's was spectacular.
Through a few other trips out west I've hit most of your destinations, but not driving anything exciting.
These all sound like great stops on a pretty epic trip.
At this point, my car is far from finished. It may be possible to get it done by then, but that will depend on how busy work is as well as family life.
Logistics of getting out as well as my wife and 4 year old daughter would not make it easy.
I'd say the odds of me making it would be small, but if the stars align, I'd love to attend.
Please keep me in the loop.
Not that I need more motivation since I am still very anxious to get the car done, but a goal never hurts.

Thanks,

I simply presumed it would be all types of 7, David from Super 7 cars was at the get together in Vancouver last year which was all types of 7 cars, he had a blast and was open to any meeting that included all 7's. I hope that is still the case.

I have it just a bit easier :) Only 700 miles to Calgary and just 100 miles back from Vancouver Island. Hope this one happens.

Hi Guys
I floated the idea of the GRIZZLY BEAR BLAT on Blatchat last week. Our original intention was to see how much interest there was and make a decision after 1 month. So far the interest seems quite strong. All being well we will commit to doing it and then put a leadership team (volunteer victims :D) together to make it happen.
Kind regards
Terry

Terry,
Is this an all LSIS inclusive event or just for Lotus and Caterham 7s? I've heard that the last time the lads came over from across the pond it was Lotus and Caterham only.

Scannon,
The 2005 "How the West was Driven" Tour from UK (Houston, TX to San Francisco via Colorado) was primarily Caterham/Lotus, but was not exclusive.
There were several very fast Westfields with V-8 and V6 power there, as well as Robin Hoods, other Westfields, etc. And a number of the locals who joined for parts of the blat drove Birkins, Westfields, Superlights, etc. Superlight even had a support vehicle and trailer along for everyone's use.
It was great fun. That's the way it should be.

Skip’s question got me thinking so I just looked through the participant list I have from USA2005 and came up with the following breakdown for the 61 cars. Not sure the spreadsheet is 100% accurate, but it should be close. It was a good mix of cars, which is the only way to do a tour :)
Caterham – 41
Westfield – 6
Birkin – 6
Ultralite – 3
Lotus – 3
Sylva – 1
Robin Hood – 1

I think your car has logged more miles from the confines of transport trucks than it has on the actual tours ;)

I just found out about this a few days ago. My wife and I visited this part of North America many years ago and we have always wanted to return. The chance to do it in a 7 is just way too good to pass up.
Count us in, would not miss it for the world !!!

Thanks for the photos!!! A very nice collections of 7’s in a beautiful setting. Hope I can join you for a blat.
I saw on the Blatchat that Terry has set the dates for the Grizzly Bear Blat:
6th August 2013 Meet Calgary
20th August 2013 End Vancouver
Plenty of time to start thinking on how to get the seven there!

Betsy and I talked it over and we would like to attend. It 2,361 taking I-80 one way, so the S1 or maybe something newer will get shipped back and forth.
Looking forward to see the sights, Steve
Hi Steve - us eastcoasters can band together to negotiate a shipping discount. If we get enough we may fill a truck.
This is the scenery I remember well from my drive up the Icefields Parkway and I bet a local like Terry can combine it with some brilliant backroads (no pressure Terry! :D).

Well....not exactly. I retired in March, so "doing nothing" might be how some see it--but I may be starting a new venture soon and don't know how that is going to play out over the next year or two.

Just heard about this. Denise and I are very interested. Love that part of the world and would like to attend. If we have not sold our LS3 V8 powered Stalker and/or have a new project running we will probably be able to participate. Please include us in your communications.

This seems like a completely awesome trip. I'll definitely try to make it. If I could add one suggestion......How about taking it all the way to Tofino on Vancouver Island? Some of the nicest roads in the Canada are on the Island. Reaching the unecumbered Pacific Ocean at Tofino or Uculet would be a nice finishing touch.
