Joining USA7s club without going to 7-7-7

Given Gert and Mazda's recent thread regarding insurance, I wanted to introduce the concept of joining/supporting the USA7s club and this site even if you aren't going to one of the larger events.



When the weather starts to warm, I'm sure there wll be several smaller regional get togethers...and to be covered under the club's policy, the organizers and all event attendees should be USA7s Club Members.



One person has already contacted me regarding this sort of membership, please chime in here if you are also interested. We'll get a link to a PayPal shopping cart for this type of membership (not tied to 7-7-7 or PNW Tour) in time.



Here's a draft of the USA7s Club Benefit Statement:

USA7s, Inc. is a new marque-inclusive Club dedicated to the appreciation, ownership, and enjoyment of Lotus Seven-inspired Sportscars (LSiS).



Members of this non-profit organization are entitled to participate in national, regional, and local events — which may include some or all of the following: group drives, tech sessions, shop visits, car shows, and autocross events. Members who organize and run USA7s Club events are eligible for umbrella liability coverage for non-autocross events under the Club’s insurance policy. Out of pocket costs for the events are to be shared by all participating members.



Additionally, USA7s Club members are entitled to access to members-only areas of the USA7s forum, hosted at USA7s.com. This site is one of the primary sources of LSiS information on the Internet, and is the only national-level site that is truly marque-inclusive. Whether you own an original Lotus 7 or one of the many cars built in the spirit of Colin Chapman’s “four wheeled motorbike”, USA7s.com has something for everyone.   If you are thinking about buying an LSiS, are looking for advice or support for a car you already own, or just want to connect with like-minded enthusiasts, USA7s.com is a great place to start.



Finally, members of the USA7s Club will be eligible for any group discounts negotiated from vendors, as well as access to any Club publications (newsletter, registry, etc.) — whether online or printed.

Just a thought,



Has anyone put together a promo sheet or membership form that could be handed out to potential club members? If we could get this into the hands of Seven specific dealers and suppliers, we would get free exposure to a lot of LSIS enthusiasts.

Bob- that's a great idea and we'll add it to the list of things the club officers/board members have to discuss. As you can imagine, right now, the bulk of our energies are going towards organizing the two major 2007 events.



Speaking of which, does anyone have good suggestions for a truly national, more centralized meet site for the future? Keep in mind that it would be best if it were an equal distance from both coasts.

Black Hills South Dakota has some great roads. Although the first week in August wouldn't be good - a bit crowded. It's equal distance from both coasts (and kind of a long way from anywhere)

Gert had brought up Sturgis as a possible venue. Obv not during bike week.



He had also mentioned perhaps we do a bulk shipping deal...where we find one transporter from the East and one from the West to get the cars to the rendezvous...then either drive in in support cars or fly.

Al, i beleive more carriers would be neccessary than simply two pending the success of what i think u are up to. its a big country http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif hopefully the membership will increase from all makes making it feasable.

Just brainstorming here... how about a Sevens across America thing... where we sort of do a passing of the torch. Northeast and Southeast caravan and meet somewhere, a group would head west to meet a similar group from the west.



Everyone can participate to the level that they like (from just the region, to going cross country).



A similar idea is being discussed at corvetteforum to raise money for disabled veterans (each participant would get mileage sponsor).

You know Jon (Boxologist)...I think that some good roundtable discussions among the clubmembers might be more valuable than any guest speaker we could possibly have.



So pencil that in for late Friday and Saturday night after dinner. Perhaps we break into regional groups and have some informal "chapter" meetings/brainstormings?

The Colorado/Wyoming Rockies have some of the most Se7en appealing roads in the country. As those that drove USA2005 can attest, the fall colors are quite brilliant.

I'll start a new "EAST MEETS WEST" thread over in the events section. The national LOG meet is out in Colorado this year, so hopefully some Se7eners will be there to help recon. Keith (of Flyin' Miata and one of the deans of the Locost school...hope he won't mind me saying that) is out there as is Caterham USA and RMSCI.



I'm confident that one day, we'll have a truly nationwide meet (although 7-7-7 is drawing folks from as far away as Minnesota so far).

Flyin' Miata has an Open House every year, complete with track time (my little car owns the track record) and right in the middle of some great roads. Sevens of all flavours are welcome - we'll have a Locost, a Westfield and a Caterham there this year.
