I am the third owner of Rotus #3. This has been verified as Chris Custer's third car. Original serial number is on title. I have only had it a few months. Prior owners were Bob Albright and Dan Owens. This is a Lotus Super 7 replica with many design improvements over Colin Chapman’s car. The car is from former Toyota Dealer, Chris Custer's Rotus company in Hagerstown, Maryland. Chris was a Lotus 7 enthusiast who polled as many Super 7 owners he could find and fixed some of the shortcomings of the original. This car is 4 inches wider and 10 inches longer than the original. Much less cramped in the hips. Frame is far better built and reinforced than originals. Only about 45 to 60 built. This is a fully functioning, running car. The perfect hobbyist project.This car is street legal as a historic vehicle and clear title in hand as a “1967 Roadster”. Selling because I lack the time and mechanical interests and ability.
The frame of this car was built to accommodate a variety of engines including the Toyota in it now, Mazda rotaries, V6's and some V8's. One gentleman we know has a Corvette LS1 in his!
This one has a Rare Toyota 1600 cc. 2T-G twin cam race engine with Yamaha head, 2T-C crank. Bored to 2 liters. Transmission is Celica. Rear end is Corolla, and modified steering (Tercel).
The Good:
Engine, transmission, clutch,rear end are solid. Engine is strong and purrs. Does not leak or burn oil. Unofficial compression is something like: 150/125/150/125
Note to prior readers of this post. The engine was thought to have a timing chain problem, but it was a loose pulley bolt.
Excellent design improvements. Many people feel it is sleeker and more attractive than the original 7, which some find "stubby" (which others feel is part of its charm).

All electricals (except quirky windshield wipers) operate.
Twin Solex Mikuni carbs.
OEM Panasport Wheels.
Original full cold and wet weather gear rarely used (top and side curtains)
Harley Davidson muffler
Momo steering wheel
New parts: K and N air filters, front brake calipers, oversized battery and tray, original replacement for VDO ammeter, new horns, plugs, fresh synthetic oil.
Complete documentation, parts list, and history, build sequence photographs. One of the original engineers and current owner of the production jigs is available to service and/or modify the car. Other owners available for advice.
Incredible fun to drive.
The Project Needs:
Tune carbs
Further secure muffler. Rubs in one place.
Restore Interior if you want.
Straighten hood, improved hood fasteners
Repair scraped fender
Change headlight chrome (some rust on exterior)
Restore wheel finish if you want.
Front license plate system
Inspect tie rod bushings, and other front end elements.
Install a fuel gauge (optional)
Improve windshield wiper operation (Currently doesn’t turn off properly).
Paint car
