Hi,

I could use some Zetec advice.

I've installed a black top (Ford Zetec 2.OL from 2004)with TB's from Webcon, and a lightened flywheel from Tiger.

I've a problem with the second and third cilinder which are misfiring, this is getting better when the engine warms up

When I check the ignition with a timing light, I see that the ignition is sparking slower on the second and third than on the other cilinders.

It's either the second or the third cilinder which"s misfiring.

I'v changed the HT-leads, coil and spark plugs without any luck.

Anyone has an idea?

The only thing I could think of is, that the gap between the flywheel and the crank position sensor is too wide , could this be the cause?

cheers from Belgium-JP

Not sure about webcon ecu but if the crank pickup was intermittent the ecu should anyway fall out of sync and not really know what to do.

IIRC the 2nd and 3rd cylinder are on the same coil and spark at the same time. Maybe the ecu output driver is damaged or the wiring between ecu and coil?

As slomove posted, it sounds like coil, wiring, ECU in that order. Can you temporarily install the original TB and ECU? Does the new ECU have any ability to hook up a laptop and monitor what's going on?

Something very strange is happening...

When I rev the engine (3000 rpm) ,and I check the ignition with a timing light, I see that the ignition stops at the third cilinder. At idle it works again, very strange?????

It's always a problem between the second and third cilinder.

You don't have a scope, by chance, to watch the drive voltage of the coils?<edited><editID>slomove</editID><editDate>2007-01-23 21:51:14</editDate></edited>
