How to conect a drive shaft to a front sprocket?

Hi , I just joined, although I have been following for some time- I have an older locost with a 1300cc spitefire motor and spitfire 4 speed (yuck) I would like to replace it with a bike engine, the Hayabusa is my first choice and second is a R-1 ect., I have purchased the book "How to build Motorcycle-engined racing cars" and found useful but I still have lots of questions on connecting my drive shaft to the out put shaft or front sprocket. Does anyone have a link to lots of pictures or advice in this area? My car is registered in Calif. already and I believe I can get away with no reverse

My chain sprocket was replaced with a 4-bolt flange. The driveshaft is then bolted to the flange with 4 bolts equipped with Binx nuts.

Thanks, Hank that is a lot easier than I was thinking - I had in mind using 2 sprockets and a short chain ( to get the offset and change gear ratios ) - your way is so much better - Now all I have to is find a donor bike in Calif - I would like to hear it run before I buy it , Your pictures are Great! , thanks, Dave

I bought mine from Hawk machine in the states,I'm using an R1. Good price and received it right away,also includes a free manual on cd.

It's a little more complicated than just having the u-joint flange adapter. Even without a reversing box you will likely need a two piece drive shaft with center support in order to accommodate the odd alignment of the bike motor and the differential. Does anybody out there run a one piece driveshaft in their BEC 7?

I do but its a little different than the normal configuration with the engine in the drivers seat.I'm using the u-joints at the engine end with the engine turned to be in-line with the shaft and a cv joint on the diff end.
The picture doesn't show the loop for safety btw,the car isn't running just yet to know how well it'll work.
