I posted previous about thinking I found liquid in a cylinder. After a leakdown test and having the head pulled, we found there were cracks in the block between cylinders 2 & 3.
So, I need to start looking for a 711M 6015BA block in the US. Any suggestions on how to best do this?

Might try the classifieds here http://www.fordpinto.com/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=a2f1e356bd4f42aae1e3d761f7afd7 38&
and post a wanted message.
That, and keep an eye on eBay.

man, sorry to hear that. I was afraid something was seriously wrong when you mentioned fluid in the combustion chamber :(

My British made Locost has a 711m in it. A 1300cc lump. Real dog. What trans do you have. The Brits have a lot of adaptors to put modern engines like 4age's. My trans is not strong enough to adapt. If I could afford a Miata engine and trans I would give you my engine. 1300 and 1600 blocks are the same just different internals. Russ

Actually, since I'm running this in a vintage group I have (I think) the stock cortina flywheel, clutch and transmission.

More questions on blocks. I found someone willing to sell me a 711M block. But I was able to locate 691M blocks also. What little I have been able to gather, these were a stepping stone from the 681M Cortina block to the uprated 711M block. I think this was used in Formula Fords in 1969/1970. Maybe others?
Anyone have more information on these?

There's a post >here (http://buysellcortina.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=15472) that indicates that the 691M had the stronger main caps from the 711M, but with the older style cam followers.
