Hello rnr, that would be nice.

Here is the plan:
We are planning to leave Thursday, 11/26 around 8am from Pasadena, stay in King City (Keefer's Inn), drive up Friday to Carmel and back to Paso Robles (Best Western Black Oak) and return home Saturday from Paso Robles.

If anybody wants to join us and meet at some point please let me know.

I'd likely join you for portion of your trip south from Carmel before either taking 101 or 1 back home. Will confirm as the date gets closer and the wife decides the Thanksgiving plans :)

If you are stopping anywhere for a meal near Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo or Jocko's Steak house in Nipomo I'd ask to join you. I don't have the car reassembled yet so in name only. Lived in this area for awhile and very willing to help out the tour in any way.

SLOmove we met at Laguna Historic's but i didn't have a car yet. Ingmar

Yes I remember we met....that is over 2 months now and you still don't have a Seven ;-)

Please shoot me your email or phone number by Private Message. As it happens I will have to cut the trip a day short and start only Friday. My son comes home from college, after all and it probably would not be so cool to let him sit home alone on Thanksgiving while we drive around.

Anyway, it may well be that we are in your area on Saturday and I will contact you

Oh no, just noticed, you DID buy a Seven.....well, then maybe we can drive a bit together.

I'd go with you from Taft to McKrittrick (loop back to Btown) but I'm averaging about a 30% chance of breaking down lately and have lost confidence in the car right now. I wouldn't want that to happen out there... on a holiday weekend to boot.

I bought that "tilt-a-hitch" unit on a whim thinking I'd never use it ... low and behold, twice in a month (thank god I always have a motorcycle buddy out there with me; and an extra helmet).

Hello Mondo, that is great! But why only the 10 miles to McKittrick? Not sure what is going on with your car but you might consider this loop (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Golden+State+Ave&daddr=6th+St+to:Bitterwater+Rd+to:35.727005,-120.300293+to:Chester+Ave&hl=en&geocode=FVrfGwIdfBfo-A%3BFSpDGAIdcDPh-A%3BFQ9HHQIdN9HX-A%3B%3BFQYTHAIdXOvn-A&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=3&sz=11&via=1,2,3&sll=35.707493,-120.183563&sspn=0.375237,0.617294&ie=UTF8&ll=35.464026,-119.708405&spn=0.752755,1.234589&z=10).

Easy 200 miles and the Bitterwater Road provides an excellent suspension test as other folks on this list can attest :hurray:. A shakedown of your car will get a totally new meaning :) If your Seven should break down while in our company I always carry a lot of tools and a tow rope. On the highway back home, well, AAA is your friend.

I'd love to do that loop but I need a several more closer to home and shorter runs before the confidence is restored (haven't really gone more than about 130 miles at a time). I think my gas tank/fuel pump problem is solved (which really was the problem that left me stranded 3 times), beefed up bending suspension component, still have a problem with ECU and high revs... solved the sore butt problem with extra gel pad;)

Plus the wife and kids are unmerciful on me when it comes to time driving vs working on the 7 and don't think I could take it so soon after my last escapade.

Actually I'm pretty confident I'm down to the ECU problem and the car is quite drivable.... it's just that I've felt like this a couple times already so I'm a little gun shy. At some point, I know you've all been where I'm at with your car.

Could you give us an updated itinerary?

Well, we are still going but do have to cut a day short. That means we will be leaving Friday, drive up more or less the intended route but cut west from Parkfield to San Miguel and Paso Robles (stay there).

Then we will return Saturday via some inland route.

So, we will not be driving up to Carmel and down Hwy1. I guess that will make it pointless for John? But we can still meet with Mondo for a few miles.

Sorry about the change but there are some Thanksgiving duties.

It was a very nice trip, if at times really cold. Actually, we could not drive one of the planned roads because of snow. Oh well, with the pajama under the shirt, fleece and wind breaker it was almost cozy.
