At the Coronado Speed Festival yesterday. Local autocrosser David Laird had his 7 in the display area with for sale signs on it. I dont really know David so I'm no shill for him - he's a friend of a friend so I'd met him once before.

The car is titled as a 62 Lotus. From his flier it has a 78 Series 3 Caterham chassis, 1800cc Cortina motor, and has been licensed in CA for 30 years so is completely street legal. This would be a great deal for someone - David is asking $17,900.

Hope I'm not bending any rules by posting this here. Just seemed like such a good deal that somebody here could be interested. I have his contact info if anyone wants it. Just PM me.

From what I read the licensing issues in CA make it even more attractive!

I am on the look out for a Seven that is useable that I can drive on the road. Do you have his contact info?

Thanks,

Jon

12 to 1 compression is a problem for pumped gas.

I guess that means that Ricks car has a race tuned engine running 100 octane gas. I am on the lookout for a good, straight 7 that can be useable on the road. I am mechanically OK and currently have a Sprite with a Weber 40DCOE and fast road grind cam.

I also have rebuilt a couple of cortina & Xflow engines so that doesn't worry me.

Here is the link to David's car and pictures. The motor can have the compression lowered to run pump gas. This S3 car was built in Eng. by Caterham and imported in '78 before the sb100 replica law. He has been lowering the price over the last year in hopes an autoxer would buy it but can have the machine work done to put it in street trim. Thanks for passing on the word.
