So the other day I finally took Orange out for a spin with my younger daughter and we stopped to put some air in the tires.

For starters, what are people running as typical F/R pressures for the 15" CR500s? (I put in 40 all around...44 is the limit printed on the tire).

Also, can anyone guess what the Treadwear rating is?

I was shocked, shocked I say, to find out that they are UTOQ 20!!!

I don't think I've ever had a tire that was under 240.

From what I've read on Blatchat, 20 psi and lower is "normal" for a Seven. I usually run around 18 - 20 psi (with the infamous Michelin Pilots aka "pileups").

Even on the CR500s, hunh? (I thought the ACB10s ran that way.)

Wow. I guess it's got pretty stiff sidewalls.

I use 18 psi on my SV. Caterham recommends 16 psi.<edited><editID>pksurveyor</editID><editDate>2006-12-29 09:27:47</editDate></edited>

40 is way too high. you'll get much more grip at lower pressures. I'd say play with it a little, starting at 25, and see how you like it. With a car like yours, it'll probably end up being lower than 25.

The best way is to take her to autox or skid pad with a tire temp gauge http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif

40 is too high. I'm at 20 psi on 14" rims (recommended by Caterham). Folks with the same tire/wheel set up as mine recommend anything from 15 to 20 psi.

Gosh, I feel like such a rube now!

I am immediately going home to let some air out!

Happy New Year all.

Al, I run 13 inch CR500's at 18 pounds front and back. For autoxing, I run 12 pounds in the Hoosier slicks.
