Reverse...To Push or not To Push

Hi Fellow Addicts,

I'm new to this forum and quite honestly I'm not even a US citizen. Nope! No Green Card, Nuthin! ... (Like I'm Canadian ...eh.)

But I am nuts about 7's and have been a weekend warrior building (well assembling) a Busa Powered Deman Motorsport SR7.

The project is pretty much complete and it's an absolute Rocket!

However,as you well know Bike powered cars don't have reverse and I was wondering if anyone here has any opinions (or experiences) concerning Reversing options:

1. Electric

2. Chain Driven (ie Caterham / Westfield)

3. Reversing Boxes (Quaife, etc.)

4. Just Get Out and Push!

Thanks for the info on where to get parts. .. You are right I have been doing some investigation on my own. .. I am kind of leaning toward a mechanical box. .. But I have heard some horror stories and am wondering about reliability , loss of power, over heating, spilling oil, noise, etc.

The Deman guys were down here in St.Louis a couple years ago, at Run N Gun. The Deman busa is an awesome car. I believe they had a reverse in their car. Doesn't Deman source the reverse set-up?

Yes Dan Mann (hence DeMan) does offer an electric reverse. In fact, I ordered mine with one.

I'm still waiting for it to arrive.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;...&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Dan's a very busy guy and he said he wanted to work with a couple of prototypes before he sends me mine.

Notwithstanding, I thought it would be a good idea to do some research about mechanical and chain driven reversers too!

The good thing about electric (as opposed to chain) is that if the reverse blows up you can still drive home.

So that leaves Mechanical (box) and Electric.

The downside about electric (from what I have heard) is that they are dead slowwwwwwww. <edited><editID>BusaLoco</editID><editDate>2006-12-03 11:36:39</editDate></edited>
