Hi Skip! Cut off 10 cm of the original Saab bellhouse and mate it to the BMW´s bellhouse. This was made by a company over here that makes BMW gearboxes to fit Volvos, Saabs, Audi etc. I have distroyed 2 Type 9(Ford) reinforced boxes. The ZF box from the BMW will cope with around 700 turbo bhp in a heavyer car, so I hope it will do the woork in my Westy with aproximate 350 bhp. The box will go in to the car at any moment.

Nice looking car! How does the size of the BMW box compare to the Type 9? Also, how do you like the Siltech ARBs? I've been toying with buying those for a while.

Thanks,
John

How about posting some pictures of the bellhousing as well as the rest of the drive train? I like to see how people go about doing things the factories didn't design for.

The BMW box is shorter but wider and is a tigth fit in the transmission tunnel. I guess that the weigth is more or less like the type 9. I will put them on the scale for comparison. Some pictures will come up soon.

Regarding the siltech Arbs, they are god quality and I can recomend them. Dennis from Siltech is very helpfull to.

Stunning engine bay you have there! That is the most heat wrap I've ever seen, but it is indeed required to keep the heat from melting everything.

Now that you have teased us with the pics we wanted can we get video too? *grin*

Yes the heat wrap is really needed... I don´t have any good videos:mad: But this season, me and a couple of guys with similar cars will make one, so give me a couple of months and we will upload it.

Have you seen this one:YouTube - Megabusa on Gotland Ring -08 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5pLfkRRZ0A&eurl=http://www.libell.nu/megabusafilmer.html)

Torqueman,

Yes, I've seen that video. I love watching Libell use his FlatShifter system, but I cringed at the thought of one of the Sevens hitting those gravel piles at speed. Seriously, how long would it have taken the grounds keeper to spread the gravel out before they raced? The wind turbines are a nice touch too.

I sure hope my paddleshift works 1/2 as good as Libell's car.

Agree with the gravel piles. I think that this was filmed early in the season and track was not fully prepared yet. I drove there my self on another ocation and had to sign a paper that it´s all on my own risk.

Here is another wideo with some interesting cars: YouTube - S2000 turbo Gotland Ring stacc 08 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aCv0HwEDPZ0)

This guys are lappnig slower than Libell and company. Dont know if the Carrera GT was giving it all but the Honda guy seems to try quite hard...

Here we go, the Bmw box is just under 35Kg and the Type 9 just above 37kg with aluminium bellhousing.

Torqueman,

Thanks for the transmission pictures. Any problem getting the wider BMW trans into the tunnel?

It´s a tight fit, I can not use the Bmw´s cluch Cylider wich is mounted on the side, so I´m using a Saab orignal cluch cylinder instead.

Allso, I have the wide transmisson tunel on my car.
