Hi All, We'll be at Carlisle again this year on Saturday May 16th.

We'll have a tent and BBQ like last year.

I know of at least 4 members who'll be coming. If you plan to be there, post up.

I'll be there. Will anyone mind me parking my faux Atom (AAIS) next to the Lotus 7's or LSIS's?

Locost 7 may be in the "for sale" corral.

I will be there with the Heretic, with a new stronger rear axle than last year! We DC locals can arrange a convoy closer to the date.

Right now I am planning to join you all at Carlisle...either with the wife and kid and the SUV or with a little luck and patience, in a Caterham (looking at one that sounds tempting this weekend...).

I will try, likely on a trailer this year. Sliding around on the rain drive last year is still too fresh in my mind. I do have my RT615's though for rain.

Due to family functions I had to back off from the National in AL.

I just scheduled a new taller roof to be built for the Birkin today. That should let a little less rain in. Now if I just have it by Carlisle.

I will be attending Carlisle for the first time and just looked at the site map to register - it is huge!

So dumb question moment - how will I find everyone? Is the club assigned an area to park cars and congregate? I really do want to meet you guys in person...honestly.....:)

Croc, please look at the pics in this thread: http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2424&highlight=carlisle

We were basically in front of the grand stand last year, and I believe we'll be around the same area again this year. you can see the stands in a few of the pics... it'll give you an idea when you get there.

I will post a tent number when I get it.

See you there!

make sure you mention you are with USA7s when you pay. If we get 25 entries, they'll wave our tent fee.

weather looks iffy :(

slngsht
05-13-2009, 04:03 PM
weather.com says:
Slight chance of a thunderstorm. Highs in the upper 70s and lows in the upper 50s.

We can always cover the cars... as long as we get there and back dry.

BTW, we are at IE100 and IE101

Why are you guys afraid of rain? Do these cars shrink when they get wet? :D

gjslutz

Bob, my RV-4 is a VFR airplane and it looks like thunderstorms for the trip over.

If I parked next to that turbo of yours with my light 7 it could get sucked in through your induction.

Congratulations to all of you people who have children graduating this year. It was an emotional time for me, when ours did. Looking over our shoulder and seeing what we are leaving in our place is the true mark of who we are & what we did. Mine sure as H*** bailed me out!

it's a byproduct of driving an incomplete car on the road. no top, no doors, no windshield, no engine cover. It might actually shrink.

Gents (I don't think we have any women on this particular thread)-

Back from a business trip in Vegas. I'm picking up a new USA7s banner today and will be there relatively bright and early tomorrow, rain or shine. Note that the Club is offering a publishers' edition copy of "Lotus Seven & Independents" by Dennis Ortenburger as a door prize — probably as a very inexpensive raffle. I'll also have club stickers. Looking forward to seeing old and new faces!

Well I got the rain starting at Newark airport while heading to Carlisle leading me to drive there with the hood up (oh the shame!). But the drive back was topless

Anyway here are some pics from Carlisle that I took:

The only photo I missed getting was one of Mazda's jawdropping creation :( I especially wanted a pic of the stained passenger seat! :D

It was great to meet everybody in person! :)

Jon's car was amazing to see in person. The body work cannot be appreciated from the pics, and there are so many small details like the adjustable pedals, adjustments on the seat, engine lid, etc... I can go on and on.

Jon also made a clean spot on my cowl. Now I might have to clean the whole thing :D

i had a WONDERFUL time. it was great to meet some of the forum regulars in public and even get a ride in a mighty v8 7.

im hoping that a younger generation of 7 owners will appear so that i am not always the youngest of the bunch.

i look forward to more events!

Hi,
Nice time at Carlisle on Sat., Chris and I meet up with Simon and his S1 and had a good blat up the turnpike. Nice to see the new members bring their cars.So just when I think this is really a great time, Bam, Mazda said, Steve want to drive my car !!!! Not two seconds out of the lot, Mazda say's " Jump on it", How do I say " HOLY @hit in a nice way. Let me say " It is CRAZY " fast, It handles great, I give it a good brake test and it stops very well. It really is a very good handling 7. It is just so #&%#$@ FAST!!
Everyone that owns a 7 needs a ride in this car. Think of it as a "Nextel Cup 7"

Thanks Mazda, Al, John and anyone I may have missed, Steve

I agree, nice to put faces with names (user IDs), didn't get to drive the V8 but it sounded real nice.

By the way, overcast skies should not prevent you from using sunscreen, somthing I will remember after my first extended drive with no top on...

Nice to see everyone again as well as meet some new folks. Jon's car is simply incredible and I can confirm after seeing Mazda's car for the first time that it is even more bonkers than I imagined.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Great to see everyone, and Laura was happy that I made it back to NJ in time for dinner.

BTW, Dave W. (xflow7) of Binghamton, NY was the recipient of the club door prize — a publishers edition copy of Dennis Ortenburger's book "Lotus Seven & Independents"...for having traveled the farthest in a Se7en to attend. He just barely nudged out Mike (Croc), who traveled from Jersey City, NJ.

I'm sure the weather kept some folks away, but it was nice to meet old friends and make some new ones. Though I'm sure that one Lotus-o-phile who stopped by thinks we're all jerks for slagging the Evora before it even hits US roads.

heh, couldn't help it. Lotus has always been successful at making light weight sportscars. Not because they can't make other cars, but because that's what people think when they think Lotus IMO.

276 hp in a 29xx lb car is weak these days. That's the Acura NSX formula. As superior as that car was, bottom line is your competition is cranking out 400+ hp, in cars that are 10% more in weight. In addition to that, they'll be going up against WELL established competition in that segment. That's a tall order.

Getting off soap box.

Sorry I only made it by the tent for a few minutes, another busy weekend for me. I tried coming back just as the rain ended but eveyone was gone. Great to see the number of cars we had this year again.

Since I am keeping my car I will win the book next year...
