Folks-

In an effort to minimize the crap I have lying around the garage, I humbly offer the gas tank that came out of my Superlight when I had the Fuel Cell put in.

It's the one that came wiht the car, used about 6 months before I made the swap. I think it has a built in fuel pump.

The only catch is that, because it has had gas in it, it can't be shipped. You'd have to pick it up at my 08825 location or some mutually convenient location.

Al, I sold a tank for the same reason. I poured out all fuel and just let it sit with filler neck open in my driveway in the sun (maybe not so easy at this time of the year) for a week or two. After that it barely smelled like fuel and I shipped it no problem.

More stuff for sale and possily for sale...

• Caterham "R Series' aero screen...black, not graphite
SOLD

• Spa Center mirror (stands on post, for use with aeroscreen)
SOLD
----

Possibly...

• Caterham USA "Supersport" head for Zetec & Kent Focus 12 cams
(I'm considering going with a Cosworth or Ford Racing head and hotter cams...just because I'm crazy like that...and can't really exchange it as a core since it's been modded by Cat USA...if I could find it a good home for a good $, then I'd be much more inclined to upgrade)
2 PEOPLE IN LINE FOR THIS

• "R-series" Rollbar (Non FIA)
(This is much more likely and timely...I heard of a mildly used FIA available and have been wanting ot upgrade....don't know what they're worth...will check Caterham UK)
ANYONE? ANYONE? BUELLER?

AND DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE FUEL TANK LISTED ABOVE...could be good for someone building up a locost....

If yes, put me in line behind locostv8

Some pricing...

I checked the US/UK Caterham sites and will do 50%ish of whatever they posted (I think some of the US prices do not reflect current exchange rates, btw).

Aeroscreen - $200
Mirror - $40
These two items were removed from the car before I had it registered/inspected...zero mileage in terms of wear and tear. I don't know if it works with the regular windshield.

Gas Tank/Fuel Pump - $250
This is the standard "fuel injection" tank with integrated fuel pump.

Rollbar
The non-FIA one, not excessively slanted. - $100

I'll try to get pix tonight...the tank is at my mechs though.

Al, just for clarification: is the aeroscreen black fiberglass or carbon fiber? I would likely be interested in a carbon fiber aeroscreen. drew...

Al Navarro

It's the FRP (non carbon)...what is listed as "composite" on the UK parts site.

This will match the Kevlar/carpet seats...but if you have Spa carbon mirrors, alas you will probably want the carbon aeroscreen (that thing is $$$$$$ BTW).

A few more notes on this screen...it's the "interchangeable" version (not the original JPE one), and affixes with two snaps on the scuttle and two bolts on the sides (I think they are used for the front windshield stanchion bolt too). My builder put the snaps on a little off center, so the snaps on the screen are off center...but easily drilled out and reattched so they work on your car. The three holes you can see in in the wide pic are for the center mirror.

Additionally...I converted to full windscreen to comply with NJ laws, so this really has no purpose in my life other than a conversation piece. All semi-reasonable offers considered...the new pieces from the factory are surprisingly expensive.

The mirror looks like it would work well with the Brooklands screens. Do you still have the two side mirrors?

Al - is that your 'conference' table? Nice business expense! ;)

Sadly, we don't use the air hockey table much anymore...our downstairs neighbors complained.

However, it does make a good platform for a slot car track!

---

Regarding the mirror...Jim, I actually think it will look odd with Brooklands...since it's black and the brooklands are chrome. Please let me know if you still want it.

Edited to add: Note, the car in the link above has the tall SPA stalk. The mirror is pretty wide and may not fit between the brooklands if it is shorter?

Al Navarro
07-19-2007, 12:51 PM
That's not too bad...I don't think I have the taller bit lying around...I'll look for it.

In the Mirror GP: Jim has pole, and Tom is alongside in the first row of the grid.

Do I hear any takers for the fuel tank and/or the aeroscreen??? The rollbar will be off my car shortly...I've got an FIA bar on the way....

Al,

I may be interested in the tank. Please post a picture and some dimensions when you have some free time.

Al Navarro
07-19-2007, 01:56 PM
I'll try and get that from my shop and post a pic soon...it's the standard Caterham "fuel injection" tank...that came with my Superlight...has the integrated fuel pump and level gauge sender.

I went to an ATL 55 liter fuel cell, heeding the many admonitions of friends who said "You take your kids in that car, Al? I'd think abou a fuel cell."

Guys, can we come to some closure on the mirror?
I've got to do something about a rear view mirror before we start the PNW2005 tour! :d

Al Navarro
07-23-2007, 09:20 AM
I do not have the longer extension...checked this weekend.

As for the fit on a standard windscreen...it might if you don't have the leading edge of the scuttle covered with that plastic coping like I do. It needs at least 1 7/8 inches (that's the size of the mounting plate.

To help get Tom on the road for PNW, let's try and have a definitive answer by Wednesday night (7/25):

Here's the running order:

Jim
Steve (but I think he wanted it only if it fit with a full windscreen)
Tom

Again to clarify, I DO NOT HAVE THE LONGER MOUNTING POST.

THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO BOUGHT STUFF!

It helped offset the cost of a new FIA bar and of course cleaned up the garage...the gas tank is sitting in my driveway drying out before getting shipped out (we had bad weather until this week).

Al Navarro
08-29-2007, 06:13 AM
That part of the sale will rise again (along with the r500 rollbar)...but those parts are still on my car!

There are a few people in line for the head and cams as a package, but I won't be doing any major work to the car until the winter. I will post when the parts are available...the cams are Kent Focus 12s.
