Hello I’m a new member and recently purchased a Superformace S1. I’ve always liked the Lotus 7 and have been looking on and off for the right car for a long time. I found a few recently, but now that I’m 60 years old the real ones are a little too utilitarian considering the width of my butt. The S1 is far from plush, but has a somewhat functional roof and heater (I was foolish to think the heater important considering the amount of heat generated in the S1 foot boxes).
Over the years I have been fortunate to have many fast cars (3 Shelby Mustangs, 2 Corvettes, 2 Superformance Cobras, 1 Evervett Morrison Cobra, and a Detomaso Magusta). These cars were fast, but I have learned the cars that were the most fun were the small cars that I owned (MG, Fiat, 4 Miatas, S2000). These cars could corner, handle and stop and beat all of the fast cars if the road had a lot of corners.
My car is S1 number 46 and has a 2.0 Zetec engine with Webcon fuel injection. Anyway I’m a happy owner of an S1 and glad to join this fine group of car enthusiasts.

We used to see a few S1s at Run N Gun back in the early 2000 and all of those were powered by Rotarys, a couple made the 2005 tour with Zetecs and I helped a friend in FL install an S2000 in an ex flood car from Louisiana. Sat in one in Carlisle PA many years ago and thought they had a very nice interior. From your photo it looks like who ever had it before took very good care of her. Welcome to the group. :7drive:
Black on bare alloy !!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a good idea. The S1 body is aluminum, but painted. I wonder how it would look to remove the silver paint and semi polish the alumimun. Maybe someday.

The paint on the S1's (and Cobras) that I have seen from Superformance were all superb. Removing it to spend a lifetime of maintaining bare aluminum sounds like a step backwards.

TKing, I am in Lexington! I would love to see your car in person! I have a 1985 Rotus 7 that is down at the moment and probably will be until the weather is too cold to drive it.. :( But I do have a track prepped M3 that is still streetable and a friend with a track prepped S2000, we would love to hit some backroads with you sometime soon!

I agree. I haven’t seen the S1 in person, but I have gone over a Superformance Cobra pretty closely. The workmanship and attention to detail on that car were very impressive. Tom, any pictures of the interior?

Tom,
Welcome to the USA7s group. Your SI is beautiful. I love the color combination, don't change it by removing the paint. Bare ally is just too difficult to maintain. I will eventually have my ally painted.
I have always admired the fit and finish on the SI and the step up in comfort. However, I do love the raw environment of a basic Se7en....It keeps me young (and sometimes beat up !!).
