Is demodding his vette to sell it.

Heads/Cam package is putting out 450 horses at the rear wheels. It'll be a direct replacement for my Rotus parts.

I really don't need problems like this to think about, but damn, 150 horses for $2000 (and subtract what I can sell my stock heads for) is a heck of a bargain.

Talk me out of it

(I'm sure if Gail sees this, I'll be easily talked out of it) http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/leaving.gif

Not that I've ever been the voice of reason when it comes to cars, but haven't you had a problem with axle hop as is?

Adding power might cure that http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/rofl.gif

Can the chasis take it, or will you need to reinforce things like the diff mounts?

The axle is from a Toyota Supra (1980) that was rated at 110 HP http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gif It does have a TruTrac center section. But I'd say that's the weak point.

The suspension links are all upgraded.

I figure as long as I don't add more traction, it'll be fine.

Sorry, I was hoping to talk you out of it, but if the rest of the car is up to the task... http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gif

As the saying goes, too much power is probably about right...if you are sure the cam/heads package will really make that much extra power and the it wont cause big issues with the rest of the car, I say go for it all day long and twice on Sundays http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gif

I suffer from the same car disease as you though so you wouldn't really expect anything else, would you!

I'm sure it will make that much extra power - he has the dyno runs to prove it, and they're in line with many other C5s with the same mods...

As for causing issues with the rest of the car, not so much

Go for it! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/yesnod.gif But you gotta think about a 5 point rollbar at the same time.

Yes, roll bar, new side panels and hood, and redo dash and interior. My car gets newer with age http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif

1)There is no such thing as too much horsepower.

2)But there is too much horsepower for your traction.

When in doubt, observe rule #1

Eventually I have to upgrade the rear, and go to 16" rims to get wider DOT tires.

I'll have to see what happens with my friend's car. He's still holding out to see if he'll find a buyer who will buy his modified C5 as is. At some point, he'll yank the mods off...
