I wonder if Caterham will have a problem with that

Rob, I sent him an email and asked for pricing info. Also told him if his stuff is not infringing on any trademarks (or if he's already cleared it with Caterham), that I'd be happy to do a writeup on the parts, the install, service, etc... and post it up. We'll see what he comes back with.

BTW, moving this to the general section... keeping the for sale section for stuff members are actually selling. This is ok for general consumption http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/thumbsup.gif

Ooooh, sharp. Now that I think about it, XFLOW 7 might look pretty nice emblazoned across my grill... http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif

for less than $50 shipped to the USA, that heat shield is a hands on fire level of steal. that may go into next years wish list.

My parts just arrived http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/hurray.gif
Initial impressions. The grill, simply beautiful!
As you can see from the pic, the size is very close. The tabs are slightly off, but I opted to bend them a little and have a tight fit, rather than enlarge the holes. I'm impressed how close Martin got the size, based on a picture.

Here is a picture of the exhaust cover (not installed yet):

I opted for the stainless grill, and aluminum exhaust covers. If I had to do it over again, I'd recommend the stainless exhaust covers as well. The quality of the stainless steel grill is very impressive. The exhaust covers are very nice too, but:
1- The got a little squished during shipping. Nothing I couldn't fix by hand
2- The little tabs that hold the "7" in place are pretty thin. Would have been fine with steel, but seem fragile with Aluminum.
Couple of words about dealing with Martin. The entire experience was very nice. Martin worked with me by sending PDF files of the pattern, which I checked against pictures I had on the car. What I did was I would print out his PDF, and bring the picture up on my screen. Then I would carefully adjust the zoom on the picture so it would match critical dimensions of the part to see if the shape of the grill was right. I ask Martin to make some adjustments, and the 2nd PDF was right on.
I would definitely recommend dealing with him http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/thumbsup.gif
Now I have to go paint the car to be worthy of the grill.

Q: Do you plan to buy a heat shield for the other side?
Q: How hard was it to slide the shield over your existing exhaust system into place?
Q: How did you bolt it to your car?

I bought 2
Not hard at all. I hadn't done it when I took the pic. Just expand a little by hand and slip it over.
There are 4 sheetmetal screws that hold the existing shield on... I may or may not use those.

I actually might go with a 2nd set.
After I ordered these, I came across a head/cam package. I need to switch from my exhaust manifold setup to a header, so I may have to do a different cover too.
These are 36" long.

I need to talk to Martin about custom exhaust heatshields. It will probably require a large one to cover the muffler and divider and a smaller one for the cat converter.

Very sharp looking. I'll do a tracing of my grill and see about sending it to him for a custom grill. Thanks for the headsup!

Very nice work! Dumb question: If I took my grill and used a photo copier, is that cheating? From those with experience, would Martin except that?

If I took my grill and used a photo copier ...
Best to trace it very carefully with a sharp pencil .. include the places for mounting pins .. and whatever details you want .. His work is that exact ..
Mention USA7s .. to him ..
