... to Dennis' shop that is.
Rolled her out of the garage, and loaded her on the trailer. If there was any doubt in my mind about this car, it was cleared when I saw her sitting on the road; even with half flat tires, the hood off it, and a head light missing. <img border="0" src="smileys/smiley4.gif[/img]
here are a couple of pics

Fired up the engine today! Sounds great. Still have a leak in the carburetor, which should be easy to fix.

Just help a friend put one those same seats in a Locost. The only problem is it's not adjustable.

Can you tell me the manufacturer of your seats and the width from the transmission tunnel to the side of the car? I have similar seats and have not found anything else on the market that will fit in my Rotus given that I only have 17 inches of width. I was considering going to a bottom cushion and bench back that would horseshoe the transmission tunnel that would give me maybe an inch more room.

My seats were made by Rotus and consist of just a covered form for the seat and a straight across back.

I think Corbeau makes seats that fit the 17" openning. Dennis has a set.
My car was the first chassis, and the tunnel is slightly wider than the rest, leaving only 16", so I had to go with the seats I bought.

Maybe Dennis will put those seats in my Red Rotus? I would feel better with a headrest setup. But will such seats allow for turning one's head to glance back before changing lanes?

Won't be a problem. They're not any different than any other bucket seats. I imagine mine are just less comfortable. <img border="0" src="smileys/smiley1.gif[/img]

Stopped by Dennis' and actually drove the car today <img border="0" src="smileys/smiley4.gif[/img]
Still a few things left, and the brakes definitely need some attention, but it felt great to actually get in and drive her up and down the street.
Steering effort was much lower than i thought, and i would've liked the ratio to be quicker.
Still need side view mirrors, rear license plate light, and wipers, and a couple of odds and ends, and she's off to inspection.
The car was actually pretty comfortable... at least for my 5 minute test drive :)

I modified my steering Ratio by moving the attach point for the steering rack rods bac toward the spindle. I actually had someone make me new arms coming of the spindle assy. The hole in it for the steering arms has to be bored and then tapered with a automotive taper. I just happened to find a machine shop that had the taper tool.

I guess so! He's got a few more things to do to it, and after that, it really depends on what happens at inspection. Yesterday was the first day the car was running under its own power, so there is still some testing to do to make sure everything is working OK (brakes are not). I'll keep you posted.
His place was a zoo with customers, considering it was Sunday afternoon.

Very nice! Looks great sitting still! Dual exhaust!
Q: Are you going to do the ET light mod yourself? How will you do that?
Q: Are you going to add a removable steering wheel mechanism?
Q: What's under the canvas cover? Did it come with the car?
Q: Are you going to keep the heater setup?
Q: How's the radio? Where are the speakers?
Q: How much gas does your tank hold?
Q: How well does the air intake fit the hole in the hood?
Q: No rearview mirror? I guess the sides will do.
How about a pic of the dash and label the functions of the switches and gauges?

1- After I get her on the road
2- Some point soon
3- There is a little storage area
4- Don't know yet. I'll see how effective it is when it gets a little cold. Problem is that if I take it out, I have a hole there.
5- Radio is worthless... don't even know if I have speakers in there. Won't be able to hear it anyway
6- I have to cut the hood some more. I can't remove the hood very easily now. Needs a scoop.
7- I guess. didn't even notice that in person <img border="0" src="smileys/smiley36.gif[/img]

I also noticed that the front yellow directional lights come out of the nose cone. In other cars the yellow lights are mounted directly below the headlights (like in the Red Rotus). Hmmm.
You ought to get a vintage radio/cassette and mount some speakers somewhere under the dash(?). :)
