Check this out, http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/import/details.asp
2008 is a British theme, are we going to have a 7 contingent there?
I'll likely tow mine out,as long as the whole weekend doesn't look like this.

Mr. B-
New club prez John V. was talking about the chance of a bona fide club booth at the show. Could be fun. Also, there is an auto-x there (or at least there was last year).
Since my brother lives nearby, I'm sure I'll be there. Maybe I try to get the local dyno shop/zetec specialist to run a morning session for us?

I plan on making to Carlisle no matter. I have been talking with them and we will see what can be done. 7s and Lotus have always been ignored there.

I will try to be there, car or no car. If I have the car, it'll probably be with no hood.

If my car won't be ready in time, I will be looking for an autox car. Anyone have a death wish for their car :bigears:

I going to try to make it. Mazda, you can have a go with my tow car if you like, If you think you can handle 210 Japanese horses. Of course, the center of gravity would be a little higher than you're used to. Don

I plan on being there. If the weather's bad I'll probably tow the Birkin, but if not: :7fume:
Would love to see a club booth with a nice selection of the different se7en brands. :)

Worth considering. One of THE automotive "happenings" every year. It's just a long day trip from Cincy, so it's feasible. Doesn't it ALWAYS rain?

I've been to a couple of them lately when it was nice.
The Corvettes at Carlisle was a disaster last year. They had a small tornado touch down. about 50 cars damaged (some heavily), several people sent to the hospital.

Bummer. Thie Carlisle event conflicts with the date for the Southeast get together at VIR. Normally the event is the first weekend in May, but this year they had to move it to suit the track schedule.

Jeff-
That's too bad. I had wanted to see you on track again.
But I think we could still support two events. Carlisle is much closer for the people in the NE region. It's guys like Mazda, Steve, Mike, and Scott who would be split between the two choices.

Well, the club officers had a call yesterday to discuss a few things, including USA7s at the Carlisle show.
We will have a tent on the general show field, near or adjacent the Lotus section. We'd like to keep the tent Se7ens-only (see club name), but welcome our Lotus friends to park nearby. The club is picking up the cost of the tent.
One or more officers of the club will be at the tent on Saturday from 9 to 4, other days and times by chance. Saturday is the prime day at Carlisle, with Friday and Sunday attendance very light.
We are trying to get a grill set up at the tent so we can just cook lunch for ourselves...simple stuff like burgers and hot dogs. There might be a minor donation taken to offset food costs....
We're planning on having some club stickers and/or literature available. No sales are allowed on the show field, so we'll just give people instructions on how to join the club online.
We discussed a short group drive in the early evening, culminating in a group dinner. This will allow people not staying overnight to maximize chat & blat time. Please chime in here if you are up for it.
Additionally, we suggest you preregister your car at the site posted below. If you do so before April 28, you'll save $10. There is also an option for people who need to rent trailer parking. Please note "USA7s" in the "Club" field, so we/they can track things.

Yes we will be there for sure, unless something breaks along the way. the evening drive sounds great.
Helpful email response I received from the organizers:
" Even if you're pre-registered for the event, you still need to check in at Show Field Regiatration when you first arrive. Show Field Registration is located in the lot just OUTSIDE of Gate 3. That is where you will receive your goody bag, etc and get your decal for your windshield. That decal is what gets you, the car and a passenger into the show for the weekend (children 12 and under are always free). After you have your sticker you can just drive right in each day. That sticker will also give you 24-hour access to the show field. So if you get your sticker on Friday then you'll be able to drive right in on Saturday and Sunday morning - you could drive in at 6am if you wish. And I can just about guarantee that if you arrive at 6am there won't be any wait at all.
With that being said, Show Field Registration opens at 7am on Friday and Saturday (8am on Sunday). You cannot enter the show grounds with your car until you have your sticker so you'll want to time your arrival accordingly on your first day. In other words, you don't want to arrive at 4am on Friday bacause you'll be waiting until 7am for Show Field Registration to open - unless you want to sleep in your car for 3 hours :) "

Would love to go for many reasons, but.... Our middle son graduates from college that weekend and we will be there for that, of course.
I love that some people are camping, it's true to the Sevens minimalist approach to life.
I hope to do some track days again at Nelsons Ledges this year. Maybe I can connect with some of you Ohio Seveners there? Check out their website at the "Fundays" section. If there is a better deal in all of auto-dom, I haven't heard about it ($120 for all day, with 3 run groups). I will post on that once my plans firm up.

FYI, about 6 years ago I used a campground about 500’ E. of the E. Gates. It is on Cavalry Rd. that runs N. off RT.11. I think it was hosted by the Fire Dept. No hook ups or water, showers. When I had M.H.’s I camped there. Many residents over there offered parking and a few offered camping in their back yards as well. I have had too many broken bones to sleep on the ground, so it will be a room for me.
Kitcat congratulations on the son’s achievement.

Folks-
Trying get a gauge of who would be interested in any of the following:
A) Some time at the local go-kart track
B) A 1 hour drive after the show
C) A post show group meal...and if so, here are a few options:
Chains:
Bob's Big Boy
Chili's
Cracker Barrel
Non Chain:
Boiling Springs Tavern (the most upscale of the places i've listed)
All Star Cafe
Allenberry Resort

My car won't be ready (I was walking IN it today :nonod:)

Note that the Tavern is the most yupscale of the places...would prob. be at least $25 a person. The good news is that they list the option of "a private room" on their site.

Al,
All three of those options sound like fun. As far as a meal, my preference would be to check out local fare rather than chains (although I say that not knowing what any of those places might be like!)

We will be camping somewhere on the show grounds, wherever designated camping is..or next to the car if they allow us?
Mealwise,,we deffinitly like trying to find local cuisine. Which way to the best burgers? We always seem to enjoy ourselves more when we DONT eat at chains when traveling. Boiling springs tavern sounds great!
1 hr drive around sounds good? However we have never been to carlisle before and would like to see most of it. Dont wait for us if we are caught up with some vendor shmoozing for free stuff...lol
go-kart track sounds fun, but will the se7en fit?
We will be leaving friday early evening,,6:30 or so.. mary's gotta work till 5:30..we will be comming from akron. arriving at carlisle (mapquest says 5 hrs and i believe it) at 11:30? hope the weather is good, if it's really bad weather we will wait till saturday morning. So,,if someone wants to hook up and travel along that late,,,thats cool, but we wouldnt expect it.

Guys-
As the day approaches and we get some more feedback on interest, I'll make a reservation somewhere...leaning toward Allenberry or Boiling Springs Tavern.
I think this is going to be a VERY BUSY show due to the 50th anniversary of the Midget (I think)...saw it promoted in a very upscale overseas car mag (Octane)...which means traffic will be not so great...it would be smart to make our drive/dinner outside Carlisle proper (Boiling Springs may be perfect).

I talked with Carlisle yesterday and they are planning an event at their local drive-in also. I am sure watching a movie from out plywood covered seats/carbon fiber with no padding sounds great. But it is an event from the show. The movie is reported to be Ironman. This is for both Friday and Saturday nights.
Al the dinner idea sounds great. I won't vote that way you can't blame me. Local can be interesting.
I may be up for the drive thing also, I am not sure when I have to start my return trip. Heck not even sure when starting my arrival trip, but I will be there mid morning Friday.
Rememeber pre-register and be sure to mention USA7s.org as the club, even the Lotus guys without 7s coming can do this (unless you want to use Lotus Ltd). The Saabs create a club every year so they win best club turn out. We can fib a little to get a free tent, right? (I should end up with 3 registrations for USA7s the Caterham, the elan, and the Robinson 7.)

There was a neat place called Rod's that had good burgers. It was in a 1950 cars theme, clean and good food. I have not been there for a few years though.

All registered for my Seven and a camping spot.
I'll probably take a half day Friday and arrive in the late afternoon or early evening. Will spend Saturday on the grounds/socializing/:7fume:/etc. and drive back either Sat. night, or first thing Sunday morning.
Looking forward to seeing/meeting everyone.

I just registered for the Standard of Excellence Judging, so I'll join everyone in the tent when my car is through.
I've never done a non-"People's Choice" show before, so this should be interesting. I guess I have to wash my car now.

Well, it is now unclear whether or not I will be able to bring the Seven. When I went in to finalize the title/registration process and they pulled up the VIN that New York state assigned me it came up as a 2001 custom orange motorcycle so they couldn't title it. Not Amused!:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Somehow, these morons managed to either assign the same number to two different vehicles, or entered a typo when computerizing the information for the motorcycle. They put the sticker with that number on my car and I have the piece of paper signed by the czar of Custom registrations saying the VIN number is mine, so I'll get it ultimately, but they won't let me complete the process until they've contacted the owner of the motorcycle and suspended his title.
The incompetence of this particular division of the NYS DMV is beyond belief.
