Great to see another Miata powered LSIS. :hurray: Good clean work, I love the engine turned dash and brass insturment bezels.

How about a peek at the engine compartment?

i forgot to take engine bay shots but ill do it at some point. as for the turned dash, its going to have to do. im trying to locate someone to make me one from carbon fiber in a slightly different shape.

Roman, looks like you got it registered and inspected. Any trouble getting thru without a windshield or bumpers?

Very nice. How is the exhaust routed. Your dash is very nice with the brass gauge faces.

Evil like the car. I saw that in Brians shop while it was under construction it is a nice car. I like the exhaust running under the car and out the back. Enjoy the car. Winter is quickly approaching for you guys hope you get to enjoy it before it gets nasty. LOren

Me likes. I think powerwise u'll like it as is and its an excellent upgrade path thru FM. as for the exhaust. i prefer mine with the rear exit. may not be as purty as the side exits, but i'd only consider that if it exited on the passenger side.

I like the gauges and interior. maybe u want to consider some brass thrim for the switches/buttons on the right and a shift knob that matches the steering wheel.

the only thing i would be really antsy to change is the drivers seat. while urs do look very traditional, i would want more support for the uses i puit the car to. ymmv on all counts.

OK, this my new favorite Ultralight. I love the "hot-roded" look (removal of everything extraneous-not easily done on a car that is minimalist to begin with).

I am beginning to thing black is the ideal color for LISS's. Athens7's black Caterham, also pictured in this forum section , is a knockout too.

Is the hood bulge necessary with the Miata engine?

What does the car weigh?

How does it perform compared to the Honda engined versions?

thanks for the comments guys.

the exhaust follows the center channel runnign along the same path as the trans and drive shaft, its tight but its in there.

First thing im doing power wise is gutting the SDS engine management and dumping in a hydra engine management system tuned by ken hill :), turbo later??? time will tell.

i like the gauges a lot but im still unsure on the wheel and knob. they are booth nardi parts and the quality is nice. i will probably put on a momo millennium wheel and a nice leather shift boot on as my first mods (since i already have the parts)

the driver seat is a actually not too bad. you sink into it pretty far. the only problem is that there is only 1 lap belt holding me in and i feel like im going to get bounced out. the benefit is that the seat absorbs many bumps and makes for better causal driving.

the hood budge is needed because of the motor, a twin cam 1.8L with variable valve timing. in person the budge is very nice and give the car definition. unlike the cat's we have a one piece hood with no vents so i think it would be to simple without it.

as for miata vs honds, the honds has more power (145hp/125tq vs 240hp/153tq). i did not really have a choice in this matter so ill just be happy with what i got :). perhaps a turbo in the future may solve my problems, or ill just pull the drive train and drop in the s2000.

o and the car weighs in at just about 1223lb, its going to get some smaller lighter wheels with tires that get traction soon as i get some pennies together.

This is the car that first got me interested in a Lotus 7. It's actually my screensaver as Brian is building me a S2K, in black/silver (orange was a close second but I've actually seen more of them in pics). I'm even going with the same dash... They say it's a form of flattery to imitate, just glad your on the other side of the country.
I'd do the underside exhaust too as I like the clean look but I don't think you can with a honda (it comes with a nice header)...

here are the engine bay and exhuast shots.

items to note:

1) yes there is a clusterfuck of wires, this is why the SDS is going to disapear.
2) yes there is cardbord under my pedals, i dont have a pedal cover yet so at times it get awfully tosty
3) thats my exhuast, i have a VERY nice long header leading into the tunnel. its not bad but a tight fit.

Boy that is one tight fit for the exhaust but I like it a lot. Those are some fancy bonnet supports.

Beautiful !!! I would love to see some undercar shots of how you did the exhaust.

We have talked about numerous ways of pulling that off everything from oval pipe to custom made
flat pipe.

She is beautiful...
