since my car overheated in the last autox school, I swapped thermostats to 160*, and lowered my fan settings to come on at 190. I also reduced the coolant concentration and added water wetter. Today in bumper to bumper traffic, it eventually reached 230 - but much slower than before, so that's a good sign.

While I was keeping an eye on temps, I noticed my intake air temp is sky high (because my filter is right behind the radiator due to packaging constraints). At its peak, my air intake temp at the filter was 190!

So, I guess a NACA duct is on my future mod list.

When I get my car I'll hang a mercury candy thermometer near the intake! <img border="0" src="smileys/smiley17.gif[/img]

I just rebuilt both of my carburetors. They cleaned up really well. Unfortunately I had to bolt the old rusty air filter assemblies to them. The good news is that K&N makes complete chrome air filter assemblies for these carburetors. I need to order a set.
