through the foggy parts of my mind (there are lots of those), I'm starting to see a little creation... kinda sounds like a high revving mofo too. of the middi single seat variety.

You are going to have to help us see a little further through the fog than that. :)

More like a formula SAE type of contraption.
Of course there is no NEED for such a thing, but I think there is a WANT. And this is not to replace the Rotus, although the vette will surely have to go
Not in the immediate future anyway, but I've been doing some reading, and that almost always results in action.

It wouldn't replace the Rotus (wouldn't be a seven), and if I do it, the vette will have to go

can we have a USA7s.org east mid-atlantic FSAE car that we collectively own, tune, and "campaign"?

Cool. For a second there, I thought that you had read my mind and were talking about the F1000 car that I plan to design and build for the next project...

F1000 is pretty sweet. Of course, when I say FSAE, I don't really mean those specs... I mean, who would build a car like that, and only put a 600cc motor in there?
Actually, since I don't ever plan to race in any sanctioned series, I just want to build something fun. Busa engine comes to mind, but it's so damn expensive after the sump and all that. Maybe the R1 or another 750cc to 1L engine.
Also minimalist body work... F1000 probably requires way more body work than I could handle.
An air cooled 2 stroker, skip the diff (I don't know if this would fly) would be pretty awesome to try too, but I'm not familiar with what's in the market. Talk about super lightness. Basically an overgrown gokart with actual suspension and roll/safety structure.
Anyway, at this point, I'm just taking mental notes.
Looking through the dp1 site, it is both fasinating and discouraging how much work goes into a properly designed and built car - although mine will be definitely more "backyard" than that kind of effort.

Actually the sump issue isn't such a big or expensive thing! ... Take a look at this

I admire your sketchup skills  I'm going to try playing with solidworks a little bit, and see how that turns out. Do you have any plans for how to bend those tubes?
The mkdevelopments car is pretty much along the lines of what I had in mind. Pretty cool.

You can bend them with a hicost or locost bender. Locost version:

I'll have to come out and take a look at it.
I'm hoping someone out there has a Solidworks model of it that they would share.

Bob,
Are you selling the Busa motor or are you looking to put it in a car. I am looking for a motor kit if anybody knows of one. Gauges too.
Thanks,
Dermot.

I think that I have too much invested in it to sell. I still want to build one of these.

It's called a Indycycle. Just type in that keyword in Google and you can go to the website. He does sell plans, but no kits.

If you are planning a busa build remember to get the loom and ecu included in your purchase of the engine.
It is quite difficult to trace the busa engine year from the serial # on the engine and there are lots of differences in the ecus for the different years (and production regions). Mixing and matching doesn't work too well.
Also don't count on receiving functioning Busa gauges from a smashed bike. ... The bike gauges are located on the front of the bike and usually in a crash ... well you can do the visualization.

Try www.dpcars.net he uses solid works and I am sure he has the deminsions readily available. I have talked to him before he is really nice.

I downloaded the R1, the Busa and the Driver solidworks files.
I'm using the Busa, but I'll have to do my own driver, as that one is not quite in the position I need it, and with my limited skills, seems hard to turn the legs for some reason.
Also, I thought I read somewhere that the busa model is one with a dry sump.
This link (http://www.astarasoftware.com/solidworks/assemblies/MasterAssembly.htm) has my latest progress, as good or bad as it may be.
