Wondering if there are any Seven owners in the Richmond area...I'm in Midlothian and would like to look at and learn more about Sevens. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
These are the guys I know of...
Steve Wann - Williamsburg - owns a Rotus
Steve Taylor - Charlottsville - owns a Caterham
There are several of us in the DC area.
Hope to meet you soon at a 7 event somewhere

Jeb
As Mazda mentioned, I'm in Charlottesville. Happy to share a ride and some experiences if you're up this way.

Thanks, that's kind of you. We're fairly new to the area...we actually just moved DOWN from DC in March, so had I found this earlier, I might have met some of you sooner. Weekends are at a premium right now, as you can understand, but hopefully I'll be able to plan out something enough in advance to actually make it to C-ville or Williamsburg, or maybe even up to DC (we lived in Alexandria, and I feel a Trader Joe's resupply run in the future).

I am in Suffolk, VA. There are a few of us here:
http://www.frappr.com/locost
I am building a locost, there is a guy that lives near me in Suffolk with a Birkin. I know of at least 3 real Lotus 7's in our area and a couple of Caterhams that show up every once in a while.

Hi, Calvin. What kind of locost build are you doing? I would love to have a project like that to work on, but it's just not in the cards right now, so I get to live vicariously through you guys who are doing it. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif

Calvin, are you signed up for 7/7/7?
calvin

No, not currently signed up. If I do, it sort of depends on where I am in the car build. I am in the early stages of the build. I know some of the people who are signed up though, one couple lives about 3 miles from my house. I could take my RX7 if the Locost is not complete.
I am building rotary powered 7, that I want to be the size and shape of an original Lotus, but with wide wheels and other performance mods. I will be autocrossing the car and running some time trial events, but I do want it to still be street legal, even if I don't drive it on the street that much.
I bought one of these very early in the process as a reference:

Steve Wann in Williamsburg has a rotary powered Rotus. I think his is turbo.
Joe Worsley has a N/A rotary powered Rotus. He is in NC.

A model kit. Why didn't I ever think of that? That's a great idea.

I am sure I will want to try to catch up with these guys. I live fairly near Willimasburg (where my wife lived when I met her).
I had the idea of the kit, but the one that re-enforced it was Keith Tanner:
>cheapsportscar.net (http://www.cheapsportscar.net/flip.php?x=2)
I emailed him and he thought it would be two things, a reference and an inspiration.
That model is mostly metal parts that bolt together with platic fenders, and some details, but it is an awesome kit. It is not cheap, but I think in the long run it will be worth what it costs.

Calvin are you the auto-X guy who used to own the real Cobra and had an X-wife that worked at the shipyard?

I'm in Durham and I have a dark blue Rotus. There's a guy in Winston Salem who has another one.
