See last post about replacement draw latches which hold the engine hood cover in place on the Rotus
Mine are rusted and will need to be replaced.

I don't know, but when I replace mine, I won't be getting the same style ones that I have. Mine require a safety. There are better ones out there.

What is a safety? What do you have in mind?

Sorry, I meant mine requires a cotter pin - in case vibration snaps it loose.
I think the ones on other rotus' are the same.
something like this may work, but I haven't even looked for them yet. So many other things to do...

You might consider scavanging the hood latches from a '97-current Jeep Wrangler. Should be able to get them from the junkyard pretty cheap, or if you want chrome, there is plenty of aftermarket for them too.

<P>Looked them up for ya.</P>
<P>They're available in black powdercoat and chrome from quadratec.com for 42.99 a pair, but there are cheaper places out there. I just wanted to show you what they look like. Also, the stock ones are plastic, whereas the aftermarket ones are steel.</P>

<P>>Protex (http://www.protex.com/) makes a wide variety of latches. I am using the >27-1162/SC (http://www.protex.com/product.asp?intProdID=516&n=27-1162/SC%20-%20Light%20Duty Spring%20Claw%20%20Fasteners) which combines a spring clasp, latch, and saftey pin to help keep the bonnet in place.</P>

Something like this is on my Rotus. I'm still looking for something that will match the existing holes in my hood and body.

Maybe this one from Protex will work. I'll need to measure today. [doesn't fit my existing holes]

Try McMaster Carr, They have a large selection of both chrome and stainless steel latches in stock. They also show all of the dims, so you can probably fit the current hole pattern.

I got mine from a hardware store and they look very close to your latches from Protex. The safety clasps I got from a frabric store. During my locost build I had to find parts from "outside the box". Autozone didn't have everything.http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20070325_184335_Picture_1008.jpg<edited><editID>andrew7</editID><editDate>2007-03-25 18:43:43</editDate></edited>

Look at the latches on a Jeep TJ.

McMaster Carr has some of everything.
They have hinges with pins that work with the side curtains and wind deflectors.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check with them again about the latches. [none fit the existing hole pattern]

At the ToTD I saw many cars that had this type of hood latch. Well after checking the US-Caterham site and some internet searching I have learned that they are called Bonnet Toggles in the UK and made by Grayston and come in long and short lengths. GE64 and GE65. Zinc Chrome or Black. I just need to confirm the dimensions.

I use these on the Ultralite. They are self latching so you dont have to keep up with a pin plus you can adjust the tension if you like. I have never had mine come loose. http://http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecId=779

I ordered three pair of these Grayston GE64 "Bonnet Toggle" Hood Latches from the UK today. These are found on many of our cars .. and match the corroded ones on my Rotus restoration. The GE65 are smaller and feature a loop for a lock or pin.

I received the Grayston GE64 "Bonnet Toggle" Hood Latches from the UK today. They are an exact fit to replace my old rusted ones. One pair will be sent to Robert O. Urfer.
The hole distances are 22mm horizontal and 59mm vertical.
